A new trolleybus system has opened in Zhengzhou, capital of Henan Province, using 50 Yutong ZK5125C vehicles running for 12.5km. The lithium batteries allow for 100km of travel off-line.   Tukarium

One of a number of new designs this year, the 12.3m Alkor 5124 has been assembled at the local operators workshops in Krasnodar from a kit of parts. Designed for 50km of off-wire running, to operate between -40° and +40° and carrying 108 passengers; the plan is to build 10, ramping up to 30 a year, to replace 143 trolleybuses and extend route coverage.

With the completion of Dayton's revitalised trolleybus system, a new report, using North American data, compares the capital costs of IMC trolleybuses with two battery bus scenarios to show a 10% reduction in start-up costs by using trolleybuses. Nashik Metro Neo
Maharastra State funding has been awarded to a 33km two route Trolleybus BRT scheme for Nashrik, featuring 50 18m and 24m vehicles plus two feeder routes of an additional 24km with 12m IMC trolleybuses that use the trunk routes to re-charge. Opening is envisioned for 2023.    MahaMetro

Winterthur Hess
Winterthur has awarded Hess a contract for 70 24m and 18m trolleybuses for delivery between 2022 and 2031. Bus lines 5 and 7 will be converted to trolleybus, with approx. 5km of off-wire operation, so that bus electrification will reach 90% by 2026.  Sustainable Bus

25 Zhongtong Shuangyuan trolleybuses have replaced the previous bus fleet on Jinan's BRT1 route. 60 more are following for BRT2. With loans from the Asian Development Bank, $422million will be spent on 8 dedicated trolleybus corridors totaling 111km. Linz has ordered nine additional Van Hool 24T trolleybuses to expand the network with two new routes that will use the new Danube bridge.

Beijing BRT1
Beijing's fleet has grown by 10% in the last two years to 1276 trolleybuses serving 31 routes. It is thus the largest trolleybus system in the world, surpassing that of Minsk, although this may change with the arrival of the current order for 130 new Belarus vehicles next year.    Fwei Liu

Over 470 million euros have been allocated to restructure the Genoa trolleybus system to create a network of 50km using 145 18m IMC trolleybuses, 17 new substations and routes on mainly reserved lanes. Three of the four routes will be bus lines converted to trolleybuses. The goal is to reduce car journeys by 8.1%, increase public transport usage by 24.3% and reduce climate warming gas emmissions.    Sustainable Bus
